"I wish for each of us the courage to make the journey sweet."

What readers are saying...   Professional Raves

I was reading Bone Marrow Boogie on the ferry the other day and this woman was interested. She took down the ordering information. And then I read to her out loud from Bainbridge to Seattle.

I started reading Bone Marrow Boogie on the airplane, and through the hours of reading your "adventure", I've received a gift from you. The precious gift of sharing your life, thoughts, and opinions. This should be required reading for all people that come into contact with anyone that has a life threatening disease. What insight they would be given! Good for you for taking control!

Janie, keep dancing and sharing your delight in the wonders of the earth. You will find that your light will show the way for others to follow.

I read the entire book on the way to DC. It reads beautifully. I have no way of measuring its intensity for a non involved reader, but my guess is that it will be powerful. It certainly stirred up a lot of stuff in me, mostly about friendship not cancer.

No solamente fuiste capaz de enfrentar un cruel reto sino de vencerlo y además ir forjando un libro, una obra maestra de amor a la vida de amor a la familia de amor a la amistad.

I read your book through at one sitting last night and was moved and challenged and inspired by your journey and your beautiful words and your commitment to the making of human connection and your honesty and your courage and your fear. Thank you for writing. Thank you for going through all that it took to get healthy. Thank you for inspiring me to grow and thank you for the growing you have done and keep doing. Thank you for shining for us all. Thank you.

I finished the book this morning, remaining in my sun-streaked bed far longer than I'd planned because I didn't want to stop reading. Your style of writing is so engaging. I find it straightforward. Laced with wonderfully unexpected quirky turns of words and phrases. It's a joy to read. And an inspiration as well.

This is very involving...you have done a fabulous job drawing your reader in (if you're willing to take such a comment from a holder of a BS in Biology/Chemistry!)... I'm currently holding back tears.
